Some Pics from Ohio!

Above is a picture of the group of authors who attended the get together on Ohio. Also a picture of me and Lori Foster one of the ladies who hosted the event.

Let me just say that each and every author was wondeful and nice so go out and buy their books. If you need any recommendations just let me know and I can point you in the right direction. Some of my friends have started calling me a book pimp! Can you believe that!

Wow!! what more can I say but WOW! WE had a great time again this year. I hope to add some pics when I get them developed. I've been sick since I've been back and just now feel like actually blogging anything. There is so much to talk about and my mind is just not up to it right now. So keep watching I hope to add more details later!

Playing around with microsoft publisher

So I helped someone I know by creating a brochure with publisher last night. I had so much fun, and she actually likes it so that is a good thing.

This weekend is the Reader Writer Get Together in Ohio. I can't wait to meet new friends and see my old pals again. Mom is going back with me again this year which is so great, she had a lot of fun last year.

To much to do to little time.

Do you know what I mean. Since I started my new position at work it seems like I don't have time to read or anything. The weekends are spent doing errands, laundry and chores. Sunday of course is church. I do get mondays off but I'm usually doing the stuff I didn't get done on the weekends. Since I've been promoted to supervisor I can no longer read at work!

We had our meeting saturday at the Lost Savant It was me, myself and I. Which is no biggie I know that a lot of people are busy on the weekends and it's hard to get away. I did meet one lady who was there who may try to come next month and bring a friend. We are going to grow it will just take time!

Has it been that long?

Wow I guess it has! What a great weekend it was! Can you believe how warm it has been in East Tennessee. Saturday was our easter egg hunt and church and it was so much fun to see all the little ones out there hunting eggs! After the hunt Hubby and I went to Fountain City Park with a couple and their 2 little ones we cooked out and let the girls play. I was so tired.

Easter, we had Sunrise service at 7 with breakfast after. Then we had sunday school and our special music program. (note to self not good to stand long and sing your heart out with a full tummy LOL).

I am so looking forward to our trip in June to the Reader/Writer Get Together in Ohio. For more info visit www.lorifoster.com

I am still trying to build up my readers group, so please if you are interested in discussing books with other readers let me know. Yes the name is Knoxville Area but I don't care where you live join my loop!

SMRW Ladies

So I woke up yesterday morning to snow on the ground but thankfully not much on the roads. Why thankfully? Well you see I wanted to go hang out with some of the ladies from the local RWA. And Kate McKeever was going to have her book "The Single Life" there so I had to make sure I got my copy of it.

I am almost finished with a test reading I am doing for one of the other SMRW ladies. Ohhh it is so good as soon as she sells it I will let everyone know where they can get it!

So what are you all reading on? Anything good to recommend.

Have you ever...

Have you ever read a book and then when you get finished with it wonder why you wasted your time reading it. I can't not read a book once I get started even if it takes me several days and I've already started another book :). Do you finish every book you start or if you don't like it do you put it down?

Book Store

So today I had to go to "diversity" training at work. Ok this is the same training I've had every year for over 10 years. If I'm not diversified by now when will I be ugh!!! So the class lasted, get this, 45 mins!!! I got out at 11AM and did not start my shift until 1:30pm. So what did I do?? I went to the mall and Waldenbooks!!!

Ok I tried to behave really I did but of course I came out of there with several books, and the December issue of Romantic Times.

While I was eating lunch (Steak Escape, yummy ) I glanced at my new magazine. They have several articles for readers this month everything from creating your own special reading nook, keeping a journal of books you've read, readers groups, and book signings. Of course they have more information on the RT Convention that is coming up it sounds like it is going to be so much fun! One day I will be able to attend RT, it may be a few years from now but that is ok, it's good to have a goal.

How I got started reading romance books

The summer between by 7th and 8th grade I was staying with an Aunt of mine for the day. I was bored and wanted something to do. She gave me a book she had read and said try this. It was Nora Roberts Irish Thoughabred. What can I say I was hooked.

I mainly read romance books, but I also love a great mystery, thriller, suspense, scare me book.

There is nothing like going to the store and picking a paperback (sometimes hardback) from the shelf, holding it in your hands, opening to the first chapter, maybe even reading a few pages right there in the store, yes I will admit I smell the books also and I do not turn the pages down on my books, that's what a bookmark is for LOL!

Bringing the book home adding it to your pile of books to read, or if it's one you've been waiting on curling up in your favorite chair or bed and reading it, savoring each page as you go.
